Queensland airline Skytrans has flown its last passenger after it suddenly ceased operations on Friday afternoon.
Skytrans lost its government-subsidised routes to New South Wales-based Regional Express, which began its services on Thursday, in a decision announced by Transport Minister Scott Emerson in October last year.
Skytrans managing director Simon Wild said that decision, coupled with a falling Australian dollar, meant the airline, which had flown since 1990, was no longer viable.
